Copy the script tag
In askVela, copy the script tag under Settings → Installation & tech → Embed widget → Other website.

Add it to your theme
Place the script tag in the footer of your OXID theme before the closing </body> tag, ideally in a child theme so it survives updates. Then clear the cache.

Connect your catalog
Under Products, scan your store with “Scan from website”, or add a product export as a CSV or XML feed under Products → Data sources.
Catalog from your store or your export
askVela runs in any OXID eShop through a script tag in the theme. You don't need a module. askVela reads the catalog through the website scan or a product export, and the AI answers with a source and hands over to your team when it matters.
The website scan reads structured product data (JSON-LD and microdata) and the sitemap. A product export as CSV, XML or JSON, for example in Google Merchant format, complements or replaces it; askVela fetches it regularly.
Order status in the chat
For order questions, connect askVela to an endpoint in your store that returns the orders for an email address as JSON. askVela signs every request (HMAC-SHA256), and the AI answers with status, shipping and tracking link.
Good to know
- In a child theme, the script tag survives theme updates.
- Product cards lead straight to the item page in your store.
- For purchase attribution in the dashboard, your store reports orders to askVela via a signed webhook.
